General Rules
1. General
1.0 Stupidly Named Internet Football League
The SNIFL was established in April 1999 by David Bourke and Pierre Vendelboe.
1.1. SNIFL Structure
The SNIFL consists of 30 teams split into 3 divisions of 10. Each team has at least one ACTIVE manager to operate it. No
person can manage 2 teams except in extreme circumstances where the SNIFL Board's approval has been given, and the
entire league notified (note this situation often only occurs when a manager is acting as caretaker for anothermanager for a short period of time)
1.1.1. Applying for a Position as Manager
Current managers have the opportunity to apply for vacant jobs with other teams when the SNIFL Board notifies the league they are open for applications. Under no circumstances will any conditions be allowed on a manager's application. The manager who wins the position is chosen based upon the extent of their conditions they asked for, and also their previous managing records (not necessarily the win/loss ratio, but also the general league participation, and reliability).
New managers are appointed to teams without managers from the Waiting List. For a person who wishes to join the SNIFL to enter the Waiting List, they must application form from the EOFA website. It should be noted that positions do not arise often, and therefore a lengthy waiting period may occur. When a position becomes available for a New manager, several candidates from the Waiting List are chosen, primarily based on the length of time they have been on the list. After the candidates have been asked if they are still interested, the SNIFL Board will decide which candidate shall take the job.
1.2. SNIFL Board
The SNIFL Board controls the operation of the SNIFL. The main members make the majority of decisions in the league, however, often these decisions come after consultation with all involved parties.
1.3. Fines
The SNIFL Board reserves the right to fine teams when they believe a team has acted outside of the rules directly or indirectly, or outside the spirit of the game by using inappropriate conduct.
1.4. Appeals & Protests
If a manager believes the SNIFL Board has treated them unfairly, they may appeal any decisions made. The appeal is made to the Board itself. If the Board does not accept the appeal, the rest of the league shall be asked to form an opinion. Note, if the appeal ends up unsuccessful, there remains a possibility heavier penalty may be incurred.
Furthermore, if a manager believes another manager has acted inappropriately then they must appeal to the SNIFL Board. The SNIFL Board will only act when it receives a complaint or appeal from another manager.
2. Competitions
2.1. League Competition
The SNIFL is divided to 4 divisions, containing 12 teams. During the season, each team play each other team twice, therefore there are 18 rounds in a single season.
2.1.1. Relegation and Promotion
At the end of the season, the teams who finish 9th and 10th are automatically relegated. The teams who finish 1st are automatically promoted, whilst the teams who finish 2nd and 3rd will playoff over two legs, with the winner gaining promotion. Please note, standard 2 leg rules apply, if after the 2nd leg scores are level, the winner is decided by away goals, and if these are equal, then a penalty shootout.

Round 2 - 16 teams (14 winners from round 1 + 2 byes)

2.3. Friendlies
Teams can only play friendlies during the off-season. If you wish to play a friendly, organize it with another manager and advise the league commisioner at least one week in advance. The statistics from friendlies don't count for league games. Therefore, if a player is suspended or booked in a friendly game, it does not affect his DP level. Players who are suspended in a league or cup game, still can play in friendlies. Injuries however do carry over between friendlies and other games, as do ability points gained.
2.4. Other Competitions
At certain times the SNIFL Board may introduce other competitions. This includes International games such as the World Cup, Multi-League games, All-Star games and so forth.
3. Adding to the game
1. Customizing your profile
There is a link on the website to record your personal data (where you live, your favourite team etc) which helps others
know a little about you.
4. End-Of-Season Awards

Players who manage between 360 and 720 minutes of play in the season will gain 500abs in their main skill area.
Once a player reaches the ripe old age of 35 he will retire from the game automatically for no compensation, unless special exemption is sought. The exemption costs a club 500k SNIFLers per season per player (cost of the special trainer required to keep the player fit), payable immediately, and will also reduce the players main skill level by 2 and 1 in all other areas (minimum skill level for an area is 1). This means a player can play on until the end of the season where he is shown as being 34 on the squad page. At the end of that season, he will retire normally unless you pay the fees. If you have extended the player past 35, he will automatically retire at 40.

Those teams who fail to get a draft pick in time are picked up in a last round of drafting after division 1. Managerless teams are given a random pick.
